Big Bang's new single enters Oricon chart at No. 5

Korean idol Big Bang's latest Japanese single has placed at fifth on the prestigious Oricon daily music chart, according to Japanese publication Oricon Style on Thursday.

Oricon Style reported that according to Oricon's daily chart, the five-member boy band's fifth Japanese single "Beautiful Hangover," released in the country yesterday, entered the music chart at No. 5.

The group has led a successful music career in the country since crossing over to the J-pop scene in June 2009 with the first Japanese single "My Heaven" and follow-up single "Gara Gara Go!!"

Their self-titled first full-length release "Big Bang" made its debut at No. 2 on the chart while coming in third on the weekly chart in August 2009. They were named the Best New Artist at Japan Yusen Awards and Japan Record Awards at the 2009 ceremonies.

In May 2010, the boys scored a triple win at the MTV World Stage Music Video Awards Japan, picking up trophies for Best New Artist Video, Best Pop Video and Best Collaboration Video. They were also the first-ever Korean dance group to take the main stage at the Summer Sonic Festival 2010.

Big Bang, composed of members G-Dragon, T.O.P, Daesung, Taeyang and Seungri, may be making a comeback to the local music scene with a full-length album in October or November.
