Korean pop stars BEAST and 4minute will be representing Korea at the opening concert of the Youth Olympic Games, according to their agency Cube Entertainment on Friday.

Cube announced in a press release that the two idol groups have been invited to take part in the opening ceremony of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games to be held in Singapore from August 14 to 26.

They will be performing with other international artists in front of some 3,500 youths at the opening event of the two-week fest.

The Youth Olympic Games is a tournament held to inspire the youths around the world to embrace and spread the values of excellence, friendship and respect.

"It is a great honor for BEAST and 4minute to be performing at a world event like this. For this event, both groups have prepared a different performance since the members are in the similar age group as the audience," an official from Cube was quoted as saying.

Both BEAST and 4minute were invited to another international festival in July -- the "Asia-Pacific Global Tolerance with Music 2010" concert held in Osaka of Japan alongside boy band Big Bang.

BEAST (Boys of the East Asia Standing Tall) made their debut last year with their first mini-album "Beast is The B2ST." They have several hit singles under their belt such as "Bad Girl," "Shock" and "Easy."

4minute splashed into the music scene with their debut single "Hot Issue" in 2009. They enjoyed success with their mini-album "For Muzik" topping various music charts in Taiwan and the Philippines.

They will be returning to Korea on August 26.
